Is The Biggest Loser Resort program only for overweight individuals?

No. Our program is structured to include guests who come for a variety of reasons and at all fitness levels. The primary motivators are generally to lose weight or to experience an active fitness getaway while learning how to achieve and maintain overall wellness.

Do you have to be in shape to participate?

No. Our program accommodates men and women at all fitness levels. All you need to be is willing to try your best!

What is the age limit for guests?

We accommodate teens in our program (ages 14 – 17) but they must be accompanied by a participating adult. Guests 18+ may join us on their own. We have guests participate in our program at all ages, so no matter your age you won’t feel out of place!

If I live nearby, do I still have to stay at the resort to participate?

We offer flexible plans to accommodate our guests and we do have offsite packages available. Please call our toll free number at 877-825-8878 or click on our live chat to discuss these options.

If I come alone can I share a room with someone and take advantage of the shared rate?

Shared accommodations are only for guests coming to the resort together. We do not pair up roommates.

How long do people stay at the resort?

The program runs in 7-day cycles with the minimum stay being one week. Check-in and check-out are always on Sunday. Guests are welcome to stay for as long as they wish – many guests stay for multiple weeks (and even months!) at a time.

What happens if I book a reservation but end up having to cancel it?

If you have to cancel, we will hold your payment as a credit on file for a future stay for up to one year. If you cancel or reschedule your stay within two weeks of arrival, a $300 per week rescheduling fee will be applied. As a resort policy, we do not accept cancellations via email. To request a cancellation or to reschedule your stay please call us on 877-825-8878.

What are the features of a typical guest room?

What are the workout facilities like?

Each resort features gym facilities with top-of-the-line equipment, spacious aerobics rooms with great sound systems to keep you motivated, and a swimming pool for aquatic workouts. Some locations feature additional facilities such as tennis and/or basketball courts. Are Caffeine based drinks served at the resorts?

The program the Biggest Loser Resorts provides for guests is a type of elimination and mild detoxifying program which aims to create a “clean slate” for guests. To assist the body’s ability to transform and adapt, it is essential to exclude all of the unhealthy components that are in most people daily lifestyles and diets – this includes cutting out processed foods, refined sugars, unhealthy fats, and greatly reducing dairy and gluten from the food they eat during their stay while at the resorts. Mild detoxification also occurs by including more highly dense nutrient foods that contain more phytonutrients and fiber than most of our guests are used to having in their daily lives back home. Exercise and weight loss also play major roles in the body’s natural detoxification process.

Caffeine is metabolized in the major detoxification organ called the liver. Caffeine can interfere with detoxification in the liver, making it difficult to regulate the normal detoxification process.

Caffeine can also have other negative effects that may interfere with a guest’s performance and desired results as it can directly affect their ability to sleep/recover, increases stress hormones, impacts digestion as well as the quality of their participation and enjoyment in the program. Remember that what you are doing during the Biggest Loser Resort program is not what you do back home – you came here for a reason and trust that we know what is best for you and your body in order to move toward your goals.

You will see that it is possible to not only have more energy off caffeine, but that you’ll also experience a higher amount of sustainable energy on this program. This does not mean that all caffeine is bad for and that you cannot go back to enjoying caffeine once you go home. As a guest, you will learn during your stay when the optimal time is to have caffeine and how to not be dependent on it to get through the day.

What is the food like? What are some typical menu items?

Guests enjoy delicious spa cuisine meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, 2 snacks and dinner with dessert. Designed by an integrative team of world-class executive chefs, registered dietitians and holistic nutritionists, the weekly menu does not disappoint. Each delicious, calorie-controlled meal features top quality ingredients, in just the right nutritious balance of proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats. (Note: Snacks are available throughout the day if needed).

Lunch: Turkey/avocado wraps, chili with corn bread, soups and salads

What is a typical day like?

Our goal is to help you reach yours. Every day is specifically designed to provide you with the activities, education, nourishment and personal attention you need to get healthy and stay motivated. This program will challenge you physically and mentally to reach and surpass your own expectations while empowering you to change your life. A typical day includes all five pillars of what makes our program unique and effective: fitness, wellness education, spa cuisine meals, camaraderie with your fellow guests, and relaxation/rejuvenation.

What types of exercise classes are offered?

You’ll build confidence, strength, and endurance through a variety of boot camp-style fitness classes that will keep you moving and never bored. Our certified professional trainers and instructors will coach and encourage you through cardio, endurance, strength, and stretching classes that may include: circuit training, toning, aquatics, kickboxing, indoor cycling, dancing! Those fitness classes sound intimidating...will I be able to do it?

Yes! Our trainers will work with you at YOUR specific fitness level. All staff members are CPR and First Aid-Certified. Our trainers specialize in leading, motivating, and caring for all guests on these memorable and calorie-burning daily workouts. Visit our Fitness and Exercise page for more details.

Who are the trainers and educators?

Our certified professional trainers and instructors offer their own unique style of coaching – but all are exceptional motivators and experts in teaching workout techniques. Our education program is led by a team of registered dietitians, holistic nutritionists, life coaches and certified trainers. (The featured lecturers vary by location).

What will I learn in the education series? Be honest, are they boring?

This program isn’t a diet; we promote creating a healthy lifestyle. Our engaging lecture series covers the tips you need to make smart choices and achieve results at our resort and back at home. Topics cover portion control, label reading, menu planning, intuitive eating, and strategies to lose weight and keep it off. Each lecture has been specially designed to entertain, educate, and empower you to make healthy and permanent changes when you return home. All are taught by a professional team of registered dietitians, life coaches, chefs, and certified trainers.

Is there a recommended packing list?

This list will vary seasonally depending on your resort location. Below is a recommended packing list:

I can't bear the thought of leaving my pet for a week...can I bring it with me?

Our Amelia Island and Chicago resorts offer pet-friendly rooms (please inquire about cleaning fee). Unfortunately, our Niagara and Palm Desert resorts do not accommodate pets. If you are attending with a documented service animal, you are required to communicate this to our reservations team at the time of booking to ensure proper preparations can be made.

What services are offered at the spa? Are these services included in the weekly fee?

Spa services are optional and are not included in your booking fee. Please visit our our spa page to find out more about spa services.

What if I need to cancel a scheduled spa appointment?

As a resort policy, if you cancel your spa appointment with less than 12 hours notice, you will be charged in full for the spa service/treatment. If you provide more than 12 hours notice, you will avoid being charged. To reschedule or cancel a spa appointment, please contact the team at the Front Desk.

Is there a smoking policy at your resorts?

The Biggest Loser Resorts are proud to offer smoke-free guest rooms and facilities. Smoking on the premises or in the guest rooms is strictly prohibited. A fee will be charged to any guest who is found in violation of this policy in their guest room.

It sounds like I'll be working out and perspiring a lot...what if I need to do laundry?

Laundry services are available at all resorts for your convenience. Inquire with a resort representative upon check in for the exact details.
