The cost of a weight loss program, when prescribed by your physician to treat a diagnosed medical condition such as obesity, hypertension, or diabetes, is a reimbursable FSA, HSA, MSA, and HRA expense according to the Internal Revenue Service.
For every dollar you contribute to your account to use for a qualified medical expense, your annual taxable income will be reduced by that amount. So, if you're in a 25% tax bracket you save 25 cents in taxes for each dollar you set aside. If you are in the 39% tax bracket you'll save 39 cents in taxes for each dollar you set aside.
