Valentine’s Day Workouts

In honor of Valentine’s Day and American Heart Month, we are pleased to give you 2 great valentine’s day workouts from our Fitness Director Betty Herberger and her fantastic team that are sure to get your heart pumping. The workouts are super simple and do not require any specialist equipment, it’s so easy that you can squeeze them in before you get ready for your romantic Valentine’s meal.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to spend time with and appreciate loved ones, for many this includes overindulging in unhealthy foods. This can be a nightmare day for those trying to lose weight: sourrounded by candy, chocolates and not forgetting the wine-and-dining on the special day.

It is important for all of us to keep physically active because heart disease is a leading cause of death and people from specific ethnicities are disproportinally affected. Heart disease does not discriminate, impacting men and woment. Heart disease begins with damage to the lining and inner layers of the coronary (heart) arteries. Common causes are:
  1. Smoking
  2. High amounts of certain fats and cholesertal
  3. High blood presure
  4. High blood sugar levels due to insulin resistance or diabetes

To reduce the risk of heart disease it is important that you get active, follow a heart healthy diet and get to a healthy weight. Do not take your health for granted and make it a priority, do not wait until Valentine’s Day to take the first step and check out our workout videos.
