    Meet Our Trainers

    Betty Herberger – Corporate Trainer

    Betty is the Corporate Trainer and Program Director for The Biggest Loser Resorts. She found her love for training 6 years ago when she hired a personal trainer to put on some muscle. She then realized she wanted to become a trainer herself and became certified by the American Aerobic Fitness Association. She lives by two sayings in life:

    The first is LIFE stands for 4 things: Limitless, Inevitable, Fearless and Endless: Individuals can do anything they want, there are no LIMITS if they believe they can. INEVITABLE – life happens so take it one day at a time. FEARLESS – you have to face a fear to know what one is. If you never face it you will never know. ENDLESS – your possibilities are endless in this world!

    Second, “Suck it up Buttercup”- Basically if you don’t feel like doing it, just do it! You will feel better afterwards.

    Betty believes the coolest part of her job is watching individuals start believing in themselves and realizing their full potential.


    Michele Ward – Trainer

    Michele Ward has a strong passion for helping others reach their health and fitness goals. That passion is what helped her start her career in the Health and Fitness Industry back in 1991, first as a group exercise instructor then as a personal trainer. Michele’s passion and greatest satisfaction come from having a positive impact on people’s lives and seeing their health and confidence grow. Her continued success comes from truly enjoying her career. Many are able to feel this enthusiasm and feed off of it.

    Michele is currently involved in natural bodybuilding and has won several shows in a few different bodybuilding organizations. She is also a proud mom of two very active boys ages 12 & 13.

    “I’m truly blessed to be here and want to make a difference and have a positive impact on someone’s life. I believe we all have it in us to BE FIERCE, FIT & FABULOUS!”


    Ron Rodriguez – Head Trainer

    Ron Rodriguez has been a trainer for three years and is an AFAA certified trainer and is TRX level 1 certified.

    Inspired to lose weight after watching The Biggest Loser five years ago, Ron decided to become a personal trainer. Ron has been able to share his experience with others and help inspire and excite them to achieve their goals.

    He is currently training to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Ron enjoys playing guitar, singing and spending time with his wife Melissa and son Elijah.


    Tom Smith – Trainer

    Tom’s background in fitness and conditioning comes from his more than 20 years of military service as a U.S. Army officer.  As a collegiate soccer player he earned the team’s leadership award and was selected for the annual edition of “Outstanding College Athletes of America.” Tom is an AFAA certified personal fitness trainer and is certified as a “Les Mills Body Pump” instructor.  Earlier, he was also a certified referee with the U.S. Soccer Federation. Also contributing to his approach to fitness training, Tom holds a Master’s Degree in Education.  

    Tom lives here on Amelia Island with his wife MaryJane and enjoys spending time traveling and visiting with his daughter, Laurie and her family in Ft. Lauderdale and his son, Brendan and his family in Boston. He says that the proudest moment for him on Amelia Island was watching MaryJane complete a 10,000 foot sky dive over Amelia Island last year.


    Viviana Drake

    Viviana Drake has been a trainer for over 15 years, providing both group and individual training. She is certified in Zumba, Pilates, Spin, Yoga, Body Pump/CX and Aqua Aerobics.

    In addition to these certifications, she received a Masters in Psychology and has been a certified Life Coach since 2014.

    Viviana loves exercising because it makes her feel young and healthy to do the things she likes to do. Her hobbies include cooking, writing, traveling and painting.


    Juillete Yeager – Nutritionist

    Juliette Yeager has been in the nutrition industry for five years and has been a personal trainer for seven years.

    She loves food and believes that the benefits of solid nutrition are amazing. She strongly feels that quality food equals a better quality of life and that food really is medicine. Juliette suggests that all guests come to the resort with an open mind.

    Juliette spent her childhood on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania and enjoys cooking, reading on the beach and running.


    Kathryn Leslie – Life Coach

    Kathryn Leslie is a certified life coach, wellness instructor, speaker and writer.

    With over three years and hundreds of hours of private coaching experience, Kathyrn is passionate about sharing what she’s learned. Her goal is the help participants overcome the emotional obstacles and negative mindset that prevent them from living a healthy lifestyle.

    Kathryn is a mom to two amazing young adults and two rambunctious mixed-breed pound pups. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida.


    Bobby Allison – Program Manager

    Bobby Allison became the Program Manager of Biggest Loser Resorts, Amelia Island in 2014 and was key in the implementation of the program.

    Bobby is passionate about exceeding guest expectations and hopes that all guests come into the program with an open mind. He is inspired by the results that participants achieve each week and knows that they will be inspired too!

    In his spare time, Bobby enjoys playing tennis, watching collegiate and professional sports, listening to music and playing the drums.

    The Spa and Salon at Amelia Island Plantation is dedicated to the guests and the environment. They are committed to “Clean and Green” organic and fair trade products. They work with local vendors whenever possible to protect the revenue for the community and region. Most of their products are from “family-owned” businesses who take pride in their formulas as well as their dedication to protecting the environment. In addition, they select their products carefully to ensure that each one is free from harmful chemicals, artificial ingredients and preservatives.

    The spa is pleased to offer a relaxation area and garden, perfect for before and after your treatments. Enjoy our vast array of herbal teas and organic citrus water, then relax and revive with the men’s and women’s spa treatments, including couple massages, facials, steam showers, signature Seaside Sensory Journey and Plantation Blossom Rituals. The full-service salon offers haircuts, hairstyling, makeup application, bridal party appointments, manicures, pedicures, and child and teen services. Yoga classes are available through the spa, hosted in the “spa tree house.”

    Hi. My name is Kevin “Dotcom” Brown. You may know me from portraying the character Dotcom on the Emmy Award winning TV show 30 Rock. After spending a week at The Biggest Loser Resort in Amelia Island Florida, I literally lost 13 pounds and 13 inches in 6 days. That’s right I said 6 days. I couldn’t believe the results either.

    The week was not only extremely demanding but extremely enlightening because we had almost as many daily nutrition lectures as we did daily workouts, (not really).

    I have not achieved substantial weight loss results like that since I was a teenager. Also, never in my life have I put my workouts and my daily food intake in someone else’s hands simultaneously. I really believe that this combination of physical fitness and nutritional detoxing was the healthy secret sauce that I have been searching for throughout most of my adult life.

    I attended the Biggest Loser Resort from 1/18/15-1/25/15. It was the experience of a lifetime. I went with 2 friends & my daughter. I was a little skeptical at first (the New Yorker in me :) wondering if there was going to be all these products they wanted us to buy, but that was not the case.

    What I did find was a loving, inspirational & motivational staff. From the day we arrived until check out, they worked with us at our capacities. Some could do more, some less, but they never let us give up and, more importantly, THEY never gave up on us.

    I can’t say enough about the staff at Amelia Island. Even before I got there, Bobby was so helpful in responding to some questions I had. To say that it was a privilege to be in the care & expertise of Betty, Sarah & Juliette is an understatement. And their care did not end on 1/25. They have told us we can email them anytime with questions and, although it has been less than 24 hours since I have left Amelia Island, I have, in fact, emailed them several times already AND heard back.

    They have gone above and beyond, and I will be forever grateful.

    I went to BLR Amelia Island feeling lazy, lethargic, and defeated. Sarah, Betty, and Adrien showed me the strength I had inside me. They pushed me to the limit and made me feel proud, strong, and hopeful. With Juliette’s nutrition classes I learned the tools I need to feel healthy at home. BLR Amelia Island woke me up and gave me a second chance to regain a life I had come close to giving up on.
